Increased reports of Al-shabaab attacks in neighboring Lamu county in most cases leads to increased number of reports alleging spotting of militia groups in different parts of Tana river. With the challenge posed by vast Boni Forest where the militiamen are believed to be hiding and getting support from local sympathizers, it becomes a bit hard to get the facts and especially because the majority of local community members fear being identified for reporting such cases to security officers.
